I am a professional, computerized longarmer and am inspired by the customers' creations. I strive to bring the story behind each quilt top to life. My mission is to provide fresh, current quilting and to never fall into the do-it-the-same-old-way of thinking. Do the unexpected.
I take pride in understanding that each project is not just another quilt...it is your quilt...which is special to you, and I take some time to give your project the attention it deserves.
A little background...
My name is Shelly Moore, of Quilt Stitching by Shelly, and I am excited to be on this adventure and hope to be the quilting artist you choose to meet your machine quilting needs. I began sewing when I was in the 5th grade (oh, so long ago) when I was a member of a local 4-H. Even back then, I enjoyed creating something unique with my own hands. After high school, I continued to make my own clothes because I didn't like the idea of wearing the same clothes as other people. I never did mind standing out from the crowd a little bit (I am a Gemini, after all).
I had been considering retiring from a standard 9-5 job when I attended a quilt show in Davenport, IA. and happened to walk by a woman who was operating a longarm machine and I was like a kid with a new toy as I watched her experiment with patterns that she had not yet used. I was enticed by the idea of creating different quilt stitching (quilting) and set off to form a plan to purchase a longarm quilting machine. Now, here I am. Hoping to be the longarmer you choose to meet your machine quilting needs for the quilt you have lovingly created.
Who Am I?
Tidbits about me:
- My computerized longarm quilting service/business is located in Blue Grass, Iowa, and I use digital quilt patterns to complete your quilting projects.
- I served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic and worked on the TF-30 engine, which at the time, was the engine in the F-14 (like the aircraft in Top Gun, the original, not Top Gun Maverick, which are F-18s) and the UH-1N Huey helicopter.
- Served in law enforcement for 12 years in California.
- Bachelor's in Business Administration w/ a 2nd BS in Management.
- Our pets keep life fun. Ruff. Meow.
- My husband and I have been married for 34 years (but who's counting?). He is the rudder to my boat. Poor guy, wink.
- I am a goofball. Life is too short to be so serious all the time.
I consider this to be a well-rounded life experience (so far), so I'm off to the next stage of this journey and am looking forward to meeting many interesting quilters.
