What is...?
Shelly's "Beyond the Bits" came to be due to having the same conversation, repeatedly, with my customers about piecing and how it can affect quilting.
Shelly centers her workshops and lectures around this idea and saying she created.
Think Beyond the Bits
It applies to Piecers and Longarmers.
- Piecers: consider how the steps taken during the piecing process will affect the end result of your finished quilt. What does you want it to be when it grows up?
- Longarmers: even before loading project (top, batting, backing), really look at the bits to help determine what type of panto the quilt needs. What's its purpose?

Shelly presenting/lecturing at the Geneseo Quilt Guild's meeting March 10, 2026 @ 7 PM.
The lecture is:
- "Custom Not Required: Next-Level E2E to Create Magical Quilts"
(* E2E: Edge-to-Edge, Allover, Panto)
In this presentation, Shelly shares her secret superpower of how to NEXT-LEVEL E2E (computerized) quilting. It is jam-packed with secret process-steps which will level-up your E2E quilting and photo examples. This is for useful for both longarmers and piecers because piecers (aka customers), you should understand how your longarmer's skill and/or expertise affects the quilting being placed on your quilt projects. Be better. Expect more. Take care of our customers' projects.
Attendees, have your questions ready as well for a lightning-round if time allows, or even if the attendees take the conversation on a whole different route. I'm here for you!!
