QSBS beyond the bits

What is...?

Shelly's "Beyond the Bits" came to be due to having the same conversation, repeatedly, with customers about piecing and how it can affect quilting.

Shelly centers her workshops and lectures around this idea and saying she created.

Think Beyond the Bits

It applies to Piecers and Longarmers.

  • Piecers: consider how the steps taken during the piecing process will affect the end result of your finished quilt. What does the quilt want it to be when it grows up?
  • Longarmers: even before loading project (top, batting, backing), really look at the bits to help determine what type of panto the quilt needs. What's its purpose?

In-Person Event: "Beyond the Bits" with Shelly Moore

This in-person workshop offers a unique and fun blend of interactive learning and education tailored for both piecers and longarm quilters. Explore the connection between piecing and longarming while addressing common challenges and techniques to enhance our quilting projects. The session includes about an hour educational presentation followed by discussion, Q&A opportunities, and practical insights to elevate our quilt-making skills. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and a quilt-related item for a comprehensive learning experience

  • (e.g. finished or partially-finished quilt block, finished but unquilted top/flimsy, finished quilt, or whatever quilt-related item you may have wanted to ask a professional longarmer about...QSBS's BTB is your chance!).

This workshop is for quilters (in general) and not specific to only piecers or longarmers/quilters, but for both! Again, this workshop is about the connection between piecing and quilting and learning to think BEYOND THE BITS.

The next BTB Workshop is July 18th, 9 AM to 12 PM, at the Geneseo Library, 805 N Chicago St, Geneseo, IL 61254, in the Foundation Room (<<linked to Google Map). Attendees should park in the Library's North parking lot. The library does not open until 9 AM, so no early-bird access. Shelly will email Newsletters with details but you may also email her if you have questions.

There is a 10-person attendance minimum with a max of 40 attendees. Because I am presenting at the Geneseo Quilt Guild, I want to allow for its membership to have a bit of a priority sign-up; however, since BTB is open to the public, Shelly may have to close registration/sign-up based on room / size limitation.

This workshop is more fun, the more who attend, so bring your quilt, or quilt-adjacent friends, as the special  rate for this jam-packed fun 3 hours is only $20!

NOTE: Geneseo Quilt Guild members will pay Programs (Janet H.) at the May, June & July meetings (refer to their Website here). Other attendees may use Shelly's Event Registration Form to register and pay, as she needs an accurate attendance count. The Event Registration Form also provides an opportunity for attendees to submit questions prior to the In-Person BTB Workshop.

** If you are Guild or other organization who would like Shelly to present her "Beyond the Bits" workshop, email shelly@quiltstitching.com for fees and contract details.**
